Got a phone call today ( Dec 26th ) from a lad who wanted permission to land at our airfield, ( my number is at the top of the list on the airfield website for PPR. . .thanks guys. . .I don't get paid. . .)

I told him that the airfield was closed until Sunday 27th. The he started arguing the toss with me as to why it was closed. I said that there was nobody on site, there's no safety cover and without somebody on site it just is not safe to have aircraft operating and that these were the management / Insurance regs.

More arguing . . .he didn;t need anyone to be there, he could get a taxi to meet him outside. . . he had friends living locally . . .etc. . .etc. . . I said sorry Sir, CLOSED.

Following some juicy wordage, he slammed the phone down and I thought about it for a while and then went down to the field to make sure the silly bugger didn't come in anyway. The maintenance guy had removed both windsocks over Christmas, just to deter miscreants like this. The gamekeeper said that 10 minutes before I'd arrived, a "Cessna" had been flying very low over the site, then dive bombed the local village before sodding off to the South.

The gamekeeper isn't a flyer, so it could have been a hang glider or a learjet. . . dunno. . .

They walk and fly amongst us folks,. . .they're probably allowed the vote and to own dogs too. . . .
