Rotorwork Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 There's a bit of flying in it Australia Day lamb add, enjoy Regards RW http://www.themercury.com.au/entertainment/the-iconic-australia-day-lamb-campaign-ad-is-back-with-a-bang/news-story/4abb60036d4348aca0e23b67a4dc3265 4 1
old man emu Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Anyone who complains about that ad needs to be lamblasted! OME 1 4 1
Rotorwork Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 Ha ha, the Vegans are complaining http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-11/vegans-lodge-complaints-over-lamb-ad/7081706
SDQDI Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I think they will be the only ones complaining, all the feedback I've heard has been very positive. I thought it was a cracker, but then again I'm not averse to the idea of poking a bit of fun at some vegans:whistling: 4
Spooks Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Fantastic! We used to have humour like that in the UK until the dark times of everyone getting offended by anything possible. I had a similar expression on my face of "Vegan!?!?" when a tea total Aussie joined my old rugby club
Spooks Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Ha ha, the Vegans are complaininghttp://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-11/vegans-lodge-complaints-over-lamb-ad/7081706 Hope they're told to do something more worthwhile with their time! Like eating Lamb 1

facthunter Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Is a tea total aussie a non coffee drinker ? Nev 1
SDQDI Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Facing the chophttp://www.heraldsun.com.au/business/companies/australia-day-lamb-ad-outrages-vegans/news-story/17fce56190808536afeefaa12d67a1c3 Racist and violent, fair dinkum this country is going bonkers. What happened to being aloud to have a joke and poke some good natured fun at each other without being strung up as a mob of violent racist bigots! It is good to see that nearly three quarters of the people that voted on that page loved it, maybe not all is lost. 1
facthunter Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I gave up eating FAT LAMB years ago, but I think the ad is an inspired work. We should always love satire. It doesn't say lamb is good for you. It does have a strong smell and not appealing to many who aren't used to it. Boil it in a kero tin and the blowflies will come from 20 miles away. Nev
Litespeed Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 To me it is a brilliant ad, although I do not prefer lamb. But is good humoured and takes the piss in the best Aussie tradition. The best bit is Lee Lin Chen, about time she was celebrated as a great Aussie- you don't have to be a pale face(or indigineous) to be ocker Aussie. Well done and more please. 1 5
Ultralights Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 apparently the use of the word Boomerang in the add has been deemed racist! seriously, WTF? the whinging in this country makes me hate the place sometimes.. 2
facthunter Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Still better than most, but we are working on it. Alternative sp. whingeing ... won't go away soon. Nev
coljones Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Facing the chophttp://www.heraldsun.com.au/business/companies/australia-day-lamb-ad-outrages-vegans/news-story/17fce56190808536afeefaa12d67a1c3 Robbo, don't believe a bit of it. Was it the truth or did you read it in the Herald -Sun? I tried Kale once and now I am back to Iceberg Lettuce. It would be good if they did incinerate Kale and all those fake lettuces. 1 1
Robbo Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Someone from the media classification board said on the news.
Marty_d Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Great ad. Loved it. Wonder if the people who complained about "Boomerang" know about the iconic CAC Boomerang fighter.
fly_tornado Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Isn't the whole idea to make an ad that generates a bit of controversy so that you pickup all that free publicity from the media? I just get a bit "planned outrage" fatigued when every company tries this on. 2
2tonne Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 The ad is great. Don't worry about the vegans complaining. A bloke I went to uni with was Vegan. Pale, thin and weak - no threat to anyone. 6 1
winsor68 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Nobody loves Aussie lamb more than me but that advert is bloody dreadful in my opinion. Certainly won't forget it so I guess it does it's job. I feel like lamb tonight now. Bugger. 1
winsor68 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 apparently the use of the word Boomerang in the add has been deemed racist! seriously, WTF? the whinging in this country makes me hate the place sometimes.. Not racist... Cultural Misappropriation. It's a thing.
Ultralights Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 i thought to word boomerang, was to describe something returning.. i know the word was originally an aboriginal word, but in Australian modern culture, its still a word to describe something coming back. are we to stop using words that are french, german, Italian etc to not fall foul of cultural misappropriation? 3
old man emu Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 To my way of thinking, these lamb ads produced for Australia Day are beginning to become traditional. I was looking for Sam in the ad. I wonder why he's not there. I suppose, too, that it's a bad thing that $22M was deposited in our Economy? OME
Chocolate Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 sam is there in the last bit. heli helmet on.
winsor68 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 i thought to word boomerang, was to describe something returning.. i know the word was originally an aboriginal word Still is an Aboriginal word. Always was...always will be. And that is Australian....although I reckon that is not what the Aboriginals called this land. I imagine they just called it home in whatever dialect they spoke. For me this is the sort of stuff that comes to mind on Australia Day...the past and it's ills. Personally until we can all celebrate it without a significant number of our first Australians feeling sick with pain and hurt I choose not to in solidarity. 1 1
