Robbo Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Nearly ran off the freeway today, the Appliances Online blimp is flying around Melbourne this week. Looks like he had a bit of a headwind 1
turboplanner Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 That's about his speed. When you're directly underneath it seems faster, but maybe 40 kts?
Robbo Posted February 1, 2016 Author Posted February 1, 2016 Tracker shows it's now over Brunswick. Must not have ADSB as flight radar 24 doesen't show it, was gonna check it's speed. http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/Legend-Blimp/
turboplanner Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I wish them well, have had a couple of very succesful orders with them, and fast fix when a washing machine arrived dented - new one next day.
Robbo Posted February 1, 2016 Author Posted February 1, 2016 Hmmm did someone forget to untie the nose? https://www.facebook.com/AppliancesOnline.com.au/videos/?refid=17
PommyRick Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Those videos are great, I saw this a few times at Camden at the back end of last year. Have to say I'd love to know more about this, is that a full time paid team operating it? How do you even become a blimp pilot, must be pretty awesome.

Ditto, can't complain about them at all. Set it all up and even took all the packaging with them.

PommyRick Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 They had an ad on seek a few months back looking for ground crew.. The costs involved must be pretty serious, I've no idea how marketing/media works but presume they expect it to recoup those costs. I assumed at first it might be a voluntary crew and part sponsored blimp, but it seems to a professional marketing setup.?
