Watching video from inside the cabin after the explosion. Would have been interesting when the passengers all moved to the rear of the cabin to move away from the hole in the fuselage. Need to re-trim the Savannah if you move your feet, always thought cabin staff stopped mass passenger movements around the cabin but not in Africa, fairly lucky there weren't that many on the flight.

Media in a blue funk about this incident,. . .

Somalian aircraft damaged when a passenger detonated an explosive device and was sucked out of the aircraft. Witnesses said the man was "On fire"

On Sky--quite early today, a film report was shown using the smartphone footage with a voice over that also made no mention of a bomb and stated that no one was injured--as the film clip ended the presenters were caught unawares a they came back in shot, looking at each other apprehensively--male said "Have we got more to say about that yet?"--Female "About a bomb?". Then recovery as they realised that they were live. Maybe they were just waiting for story confirmation--or maybe some authority decides what news goes out and when.

Confusion reigns, and one report says a body has been found on the ground.

This far, it looks as if 1) A passenger detonated a bomb he/she was carrying. 2) The person was sucked out of the aircraft in flight. 3) two other persons were injured in the explosion.

It will be interesting to hear what Actually happened. . . but if it WAS a terrorist, his luck must have been at a very low ebb that day. It seems to me that some terrorists are inventing all sorts of novel ways to meet their creator . . .

One report mentions apparent blood evidence aft of the hole in the fuselage. . . but that's all.

Well it's reddish, doesn't mean blood but if any truth to your story then one can hope for that positive ending.

I don't think it's clear if the dead passenger let off the bomb. he might have just been the unlucky person sitting on it.

Well bugger, now I feel bad.

Let's just hope he was the terrorist, blowing himself up without killing anyone else is about the best result in that case.

It must have been designed with some number in mind. The Virgins would have to be there or the deal would be OFF. Nev

Still think even with 72 virgins you're on a better bet with 1 experienced person ... just saying, experience counts 023_drool.gif.742e7c8f1a60ca8d1ec089530a9d81db.gif

As Billy Connerly said "I would trade the 72 Virgins for two fire breathing whores"

I couldn't comment ... I'll take your experience at face value

They are mentioned at length in old writings. I can't make a personal recommendation as I have no experience of their services, due most likely to being of Scottish descent and somewhat frugal. As a consequence, no doubt my knowledge has suffered. Such is life. Nev

There is a message in this from the Supreme Being - terrorist blows himself out of aircraft, no one else hurt. Hardly a "well done" from the Big Fella.

If only every terrorist act had the same consequence. Perhaps if we asked nicely they could even reduce bystander injuries and property damage by using an explosive butt plug instead of vest.

how do you know he blew himself up? as opposed to being murdered?

Until something definitive is published, this statement is very true. There is at least one instance of a bomb being placed in the life jacket holder under a seat by a passenger on a previous sector, with the bomb going off and killing the innocent person in that seat.

So the victim could be a terrorist or a victim. Let's not tarnish his reputation until we know categorically which one it is.

However in the meantime, we can certainly have a dig at terrorists/martyrs in general!

I agree entirely with that sentiment. Also, where did the 72 virgins bit come from ? ? IF the person who left the aircraft in flight DOES turn out to be responsible for the explosion. . .How do we know he / she is muslim ?. . . . could have been a disgruntled Jehovah's Witness for all we know. . . . ( do they get virgins when they go to heaven ? )

NOT on this thread please. . .! ! ! !

"Aircraft Incidents and Accidents" . . . . . The religious affiliation of the aircraft passengers are a little outside this subject ?

Yes STOP THE THREAD!

We need to have a discussion on whether certain parts should be removed to the OFF TOPIC section, just in case some poor demented soul out there is poised over his keyboard in horror that something might not be relevant to his agenda, but unable to stop his wavering fingers sliding towards the subject matter, just to have a little peek.
