Guest SrPilot Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 If only we had statesmen like Mustafa Kemal today. In our national capital is a unique tribute to our former enemy: a memorial tribute to Ataturk. How dumb of me, OK! I failed to mention the Australian War Memorial in Canberra which I have had the opportunity to visit twice. It too greatly affected me. Embarrassing not to have mentioned it. But I do not remember seeing the Kemal tribute there. I do remember my visit with Chief Justice French of the High Court of Australia. It was a delightful occasion. On behalf of our university, I invited him to visit and speak to our students. He did, and he did a splendid job. He represented Australia very well indeed. I also failed to mention that I had the occasion to visit Ataturk's tomb and memorial in Ankara Turkey the week before I reached ANZAC Cove. On another trip, I made a brief visit to the battlefield at Balaclava near Sevastopol while circumnavigating the Black Sea by motorcycle. At the time, Sevastopol was in the Ukraine but now finds itself in the Crimean area controlled by Russia. Of course, that battle is remembered by many because of Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade.” You may think all I do is visit battlefields and memorials. Not so! Today, I flew the A22LS again. It was a beautiful day in the middle of winter. CAVU, no wind, and about 16C, but my pattern work was dreadful. I will continue to remember the Captain Browns of the world who did so much to ensure that we would have what we enjoy today. I look forward to reading his book.

Bandit12 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 When we're with women we talk about our planes. When we're around our planes we talk about women... Despite all our talk, we still don't understand either!
