That's a Beriev BE-200 Altair - and what is even more amazing about the takeoff - is realising the hull is full of water upon liftoff!!

I'd love to see the W.A. Govt get their act together, and lease a couple of these for the major fires we regularly have here. We could have saved a lot of money and heartache, if we'd had them recently.

Man, that Be-103 is the craziest-looking flying boat design I've ever seen! How little would it take, to dip a wing into the water with a gust on takeoff, and do a spectacular cartwheel??

With BE-103 anyone wondering why they are not using flaps for a water landing???

 

Interesting to know do they have flaps available to use when landing on the wheels?

Watched the Tour de France last night where a big fire was being dowsed by 3 water bombers in close formation. Well, one after the other actually., but close all the same. Gave the tail enders something to watch other than the arse end of those in front of them.
