onetrack Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 That's a Beriev BE-200 Altair - and what is even more amazing about the takeoff - is realising the hull is full of water upon liftoff!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beriev_Be-200 I'd love to see the W.A. Govt get their act together, and lease a couple of these for the major fires we regularly have here. We could have saved a lot of money and heartache, if we'd had them recently. 1
Old Koreelah Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Bit large for the waterways around Babinda, Frank! 1
onetrack Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Jeez, that thing must have a bit of grunt, the way those blokes are throwing it around the sky! Very impressive, indeed! 1
Marty_d Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 From the same air (water?) show... the Be-103 is also impressive - low-wing flying boats not being that common!
onetrack Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Man, that Be-103 is the craziest-looking flying boat design I've ever seen! How little would it take, to dip a wing into the water with a gust on takeoff, and do a spectacular cartwheel?? 3
Parkway Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Yeah you'd have to wait for there to be almost no wind before you could put the fire out lol I can't imagine it could handle much chop
flying dog Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Great. This is REC FLYING. PLEASE stop posting these links to bookface, which wont work.
Bats Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Errr, works for me - both the link and the subject matter. Thanks Red750
Mick Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 With BE-103 anyone wondering why they are not using flaps for a water landing??? Interesting to know do they have flaps available to use when landing on the wheels?
Deskpilot Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Watched the Tour de France last night where a big fire was being dowsed by 3 water bombers in close formation. Well, one after the other actually., but close all the same. Gave the tail enders something to watch other than the arse end of those in front of them.
