A helicopter passenger swam 800 metres with a fractured leg to raise the alarm after he and the pilot crashed into the sea off far north Queensland.

 

Key points:

 

  • Robinson R22 helicopter with two men on board crashes into the sea during a flight from Cooktown to Port Douglas
     
     
  • Passenger survives and swims to shore, 50-year-old male pilot still missing

Knew of the pilot, cane farmer mareeba. Folks still searching.

Heard this on the radio last night, hope there are no crocs where he wen't down and they find him safe and well but sadly time is against him.

Night flying, not endorsed,aircraft not equiped,rain,no moon. That's the conversation.

 

If all true, then a crazy crazy decision. ( search now abandoned for pilot )
