old man emu Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 That's taking "landing over 50' object" a bit too literally. OME
Litespeed Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Ah- this guy was just trying to get a selfie of his Darwin award. Naturally he mistook the 50' for 50". As sure as the sun rises each day, a idiot will try and get a darwin award. I wish him all the best in his quest but hope it is a purely solo effort. 1
shags_j Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 You gotta admit though, You wouldn't expect an acft at that height over a road there. If there was a truck he would have collected it. 2
cooperplace Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I'm glad someone else accidentally leaves words out when they type: this heading which no doubt should read "avoids getting HIT by plane" has exactly the sort of mistake I would make.
johnm Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 'hit' ........ ? ............. edit - insert plastered
pmccarthy Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I'm glad someone else accidentally leaves words out when they type: this heading which no doubt should read "avoids getting HIT by plane" has exactly the sort of mistake I would make. I looked at that heading several times and didn't notice that a word was missing. My subconscious must have inserted hit, as that is what I thought it said. 1

I'll bet he didn't have use the zoom to get a closeup. Cheers

Hah - good spot - I actually copied the title from the Popular Mechanics page where I first saw the article ... http://www.popularmechanics.com/adventure/outdoors/a20364/lucky-photographer-narrowly-avoids-getting-hit-by-a-plane/ And, like pmccarthy, I didn't pickup on the omission.
