storchy neil Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 looks like engine failure may day put out four on board no serious injuries landed in paddock neil
storchy neil Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 what I have heard is this plane took a while to find no PLB on board why in the hell was it not 500 hundred dollars to save a life bull shit not carrying one if its used at the start off an engine out and you get on the ground okay all that is needed is a phone call to cancel at leased the searching persons wont have to cover half of aust neil
Yenn Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 No PLB? if it was an RAAus plane it would have to have a PLB, unless single seater. If it had 4 POB it must have been GA and therefore also required to have at the very minimum a PLB, but usually an automaticly activated beacon.
Yenn Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 RAAus other than single seaters are required to have a PLB or better. All GA are required to have the same, but most have an automaticly activated beacon. Maybe the beacon was not activated, because the G loads were not enough.
storchy neil Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 I assumed that PLB was to be able to be activated both manual and auto am I wrong again neil
pylon500 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 The early ELT systems in GA usually had a remote activation switch on the dash, as the unit was usually installed down the rear somewhere. Not sure about PLB installs? Usually sitting in the side map pocket....? 1
