gandalph Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Sometimes you just gotta ask WHY? I think the answer to that questions would have to be "Because he could". Try making that in Australia. The Nannies would have fits
Old Koreelah Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Reminds me of another aircraft engine shoehorned into a car. Although not a fan of excess, I loved the stories about Maseratis and Porsches being overtaken at high speed by a mystery Rolls Royce... http://www.supercars.net/blog/1931-rolls-royce-phantom-ii-merlin/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2226932/Classic-Bentley-fitted-27-litre-SPITFIRE-engine-goes-sale-500-000-Top-Gear-stars-wince-fuel-bills.html
Yenn Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Not a Merlin as he admits at the end. The unsupercharged version is the Meteor. We used to use 4 gals per mile in the Centurion tank, which weighed 52 tons. Great fun to punt around on rough country. I had an accident in one once. An officer came round to where I was and told me he had just run into me with a truck. I never felt a thing. 1 1 1
