nomadpete Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Welcome back Bex. Take it easy. Please. Give yourself time before trying to be too active. I know inactivity will drive you nuts (it did me, though nobody can see the difference). But is important to your recovery phase. 1 2
Marty_d Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Good on you Bex. All the best for a speedy recovery!
Bernie Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Well that bugged my beer can ring pull collection ... Bernie . 1
ClintonB Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Any one heard how Bex is going with recovery. Hope all is well. clint 2 1
planedriver Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 And so say all of us! Missing him, like others. 1
nomadpete Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 I am worried. Until now, nothing has successfully silenced our mate like this has. 1
cherk Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Saw a post on another forum , just a couple of days ago , from him ( under a different pseudonym)......keeping a low profile ?
Pilot Pete Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Ok Bex, time to drop a few words just to let us know you’re ok. ?
nomadpete Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Cherk, If you happen to be on that 'other forum', Please let Bex know that he has a whole bunch of mates over here, wishing him well, and eagerly waiting to heap shyt on him whenever he's ready. Oh, and there is also a whole bunch of us who are also members of the 'zipper club'. We know how it is. And many of us have been through the hoops in the process, too.
Guy s Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 I've also been wondering and hoping Bex's is going ok.
fly_tornado Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 I think Bex is feeling better, explaining the dunning kruger effect. https://www.homebuiltairplanes.com/forums/threads/raptor-composite-aircraft.24721/page-36#post-476658
IBob Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 I think Bex is feeling better, explaining the dunning kruger effect. https://www.homebuiltairplanes.com/forums/threads/raptor-composite-aircraft.24721/page-36#post-476658 And there's a fine irony in that: Folk fond of alluding to the Dunning Kruger effect invariably assume it couldn't possibly apply to them. But then they would, wouldn't they.........that is, after all, the Dunning Kruger effect.............) 1
Marty_d Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Yep that's him, I'd recognise the style anywhere. What's going on - doesn't he like us any more??
pmccarthy Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Very interesting HITC, I suggest others do what you suggested as I have just done.
turboplanner Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Some of them can be very enterprising and create "friends" who "join in" any argument they are losing, and back them up, or express "outrage" at anyone denouncing them, but they all leave their tell tale signs. 1
IBob Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 For those who may be interested, here is an article about the common misunderstanding of the so-called Dunning Kruger effect...which applies to us all, to some degree. "The vast majority of people who bring it up seem to think that it applies only to dumb people and that it says dumb people think they are smarter than smart people. Neither of these things are true. Further – if you think it only applies to other people (which itself, ironically, is part of the DK effect) then you miss the core lesson and opportunity for self-improvement and critical thinking..........." fly_tornado Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 the old adage that 80% of people consider themselves to be average.
Marty_d Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Whatever the capabilities, or perceived capabilities of the original poster (I'm guessing that's who the conversation is about) - I just like his sense of humour. 1
onetrack Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 From page 1 - At anytime I reserve the right to run into a dead end .. Maybe that's actually what happened to Bex? Maybe the landlord tore up his factory lease agreement? Maybe he's been sent to a re-education camp because he was deemed a person of poor character, simply because he wanted to design a cheap ultralight - on his own? Maybe his wife left him, his dog ran off, and someone stole his pickup truck?? - and he's turned his hand to country music, instead of aircraft?? 1
Butch Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Whatever the capabilities, or perceived capabilities of the original poster (I'm guessing that's who the conversation is about) - I just like his sense of humour. As Pauline Hanson Said " Please explain " If I'm on the money , I always had doubts about the person we ( well I think you ) are referring too. Forums always worry me , you can be who you want till you are found out. Not naming names but there are a couple of others on this forum that seem to have been and done everything in aviation! Mr Google might bust them as well. Just saying 1
Marty_d Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 As Pauline Hanson Said " Please explain " If I'm on the money , I always had doubts about the person we ( well I think you ) are referring too. Forums always worry me , you can be who you want till you are found out. Not naming names but there are a couple of others on this forum that seem to have been and done everything in aviation! Mr Google might bust them as well. Just saying While I find Bex's ideas and updates interesting, what I most like is his quick wit. And when my wife and her sister took a trip to China a couple of years ago, Bex and his wife met them in Chengdu, took them out to dinner and were generally very hospitable to a pair of travelling Aussies. So my point is, whatever you think about his aviation credentials, he's a nice bloke with a snappy sense of humour, and I miss his posts. 6 1
Butch Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 So my point is, whatever you think about his aviation credentials, he's a nice bloke with a snappy sense of humour, and I miss his posts. His computer still works! Maybe if he is out there he might defend himself ? No ones out there to shoot him down if all is above board! I read this forum to gain knowledge ( and I have gained heaps ). Not to be lead down the garden path by somebody being untruthful or stretching the truth.
