Silence Props

Just for interest I have placed this thread on here as I don't know how many forum participants are aware of this prop.

 

It is a constant speed prop that is totally self contained without any power or control inputs originating outside of the actual prop mechanism itself.

 

The electrical power and speed sensing is generated by a counter rotating set of vanes on the nose cone of the propeller.

 

All the programmed electronics for propeller control are also installed inside of the nose cone.

 

The prop is currently being developed and fitted by the Silence Aircraft

 

When fully developed it could be a real revolution in the way we look at variable pitch props.

 

Regardless of the final result, it is a very interesting concept.
