VFR Pilot Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I have two cigarette lighter outlets powered by a single wire for charging ipad and phone in flight. How many amps will the system draw, what awg wire size will I need to run them both at the same time?
facthunter Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I doubt you will have any problem. The cigarette lighter uses a fair bit of current when used for it's original purpose` They aren't a particularly good socket I find for other purposes as the slightest tug on the lead often opens the circuit. Nev

How many amps will the system draw, what awg wire size will I need to run them both at the same time? I fitted one cig socket with 10 amp circuit breaker protection. (Use for phone charger, vac cleaner, tyre air compressor, etc. And I have a two outlet USB fromJay Car ($25-) for my samsung and GoPro or phone. (2.1 amp and 1 amp Usb's) protected by a 5 amp circuit breaker but a 4 or even 3 amp may be better / OK. Cheers Mike 1
