facthunter Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 They are good at it. Gossamer Albatross was the name given to the pedal powered plane they flew the English Channel which I was lucky enough to see in the Kensington Science Museum in the 80's. The albatross can lock its wings and save energy. They stay away from land for something like 6 months when they leave for the first time.Nev
IBob Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Ah mate...we have welcome swallows here, starting to nest round the house now, hunting insects and carrying on like 21 year old fighter pilots with an infinite tolerance of Gs... And I'm here most days, and they return to the same nest, but the wee b**** still go me when they're nesting...dive at my face then flick away at the last moment. Try as I might, I can't overcome the reflex to duck. Other times I don't see them coming, there's just a sharp foof sound and a flash as they go by. I love 'em so much: right now I'm building a Savannah. But in the next life, I'm coming back as a 21 year old bug eating fighter pilot....
