Admin Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 It is time I cleaned up my office and I have 15 years of raa mags sitting here and the only thing I can think of doing is just throwing them into the bin. My doctor's surgery isn't the place for them especially given the quantity...any suggestions? Incidentally, I also have 5 just about brand new LCD computer monitors, a brand new unopened Delonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Coffee Pod machine (worth $180), an old laptop, PC quad sound system, 3 optus modem/routers, every conceivable PC and audio cables and parts...3 huge boxes of them, Samsung Galaxy S5 and 2 x S4 mobile phones and much more like a $1,500 Meade electronic telescope, different dinner party games like Star Trek and Murder on the Orient Express, numerous copies of Windows XP and 7, the complete 2005 Microsoft Developer kits including every server and MS Software copies, Uniden 2 station phone/answering machine...I could go on and on...donations for any of the above accepted
coljones Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Send the mag's to RAA. I'm not sure how good their history is and might give Michael an alternate source rather than the old boy network. 3
FlyingVizsla Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I offered to digitise the RAA mags to go on to the website. I could look through what I have rounded up to see if there are any that I am missing from that era. Our problem is that they are spread over 3 or 5 geographic locations and lots of places within them. I volunteered to start this project as my other project was 90% done, then they found the other 80% and then I got involved in yet another indexing project...... Its like building a plane ..... I still have some problems getting the scanner to talk to the scanning software, but ONE DAY I will get it there. The scanning is then the easy part. If I was closer I could take some bits off your hands. Sue
turboplanner Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Send them up to the National Library in Canberra; they represent an important part of our aviation history, or give them to Monash Library, Rare Books Section, for the same reason.
pmccarthy Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 National Library should have them already, it is a legal requirement to send them a copy of any newsletter sent by mail. We do a community newsletter and have to send copies for state and national libraries.
