Ross Millard, Memorial, Fly-in.

On the weekend of the 6th and 7th of August, a memorial in conjunction with a fly-in, was held for the late Ross Millard,at the Ingham, North Queensland, aerodrome! Ross was a passionate pilot, member of this forum, RA-Aus NTH QLD area rep and board member. It was well attended by fly-in pilots and passengers, members of Ross`s family and friends! My wife and I attended also.

This is the plane Ross built, back in the mid eighties,while he and his partner Deb were living in San Francisco,USA...The fuselage was built in the basement and the wings were built inside their apartment...Photos taken by, Tracy Parsons.

 

 

 

 

This memorial was constructed by Ross`s brother Bernie! It is a symbol of a plane, constructed with horse shoes...Photo taken by me.

So sorry to hear this. I bumped into him a number of times over the past few years in Townsville, the first meeting teed up via this very website. He had some great stories of his time in the US and the building/flying of the biplane. And he was such a wealth of knowledge and so generous with his time.

Like most NQ pilots I have come across Frank had a passion for flying that you could only admire. I had the pleasure of some 'off work' time when Frank guided me around the Hinkler Museum when we met in Bundaberg after the RAAus CFI seminar. Frank was generous with his time, he worked hard for RAAus pilots while on the RAAus Board and well represented pilots views while he held that position. Really pleased the time was put aside for this memorial event.

Was a great weekend to remember Ross and catchup with many of his friends. I flew the Nynja through the South Pinnacle area which was an area he told me about many times. Look forward to the next time.

 

The Ingham Areo club were fantastic hosts and also Donnington were we overnighted on the Friday night. The band was great. Cheers Mike
