STEPHEN Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 BRISBANE VALLEY AIRSHOW Brisbane Valley Airshow | Jets-Warbirds-Aerobatics-Helicopters-RAAF
Guest extralite Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 There was a big turnout there with lots of variety. Good day out.
cscotthendry Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Yes, our airshow went off like skyrockets. A great time was had by all. I was doing some marshalling and without exception, everyone I encountered was happy and very positive about the event. The organisers are to be congratulated. You wouldn't believe how much effort they put in, and what was involved to make it what it was, especially ordering the beautiful weather for the 2 days ... THAT took some doing

THAT took some doing The Missus and I were there on Sunday, it was our first Air Show, program was great well organized, plenty to see for all, we had a ball, weather fantastic, with work and real life away from flying I dont get out much, pretty much a cave dweller most times, so I am sometimes a bit pale like a parsnip, however after yesterdays little jaunt with and with not enough of the slip, slop, slap, I got totally roasted, I am hotter than Chernobyl right now Some pictures, enjoy. BJFly Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Congratulations to the team that organised the airshow, it would have been a mammoth effort! What an array of flying machines to drool over. 3
cscotthendry Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Love the pics guys. Hope you stayed for the grande finale, the C17. It was awesome! 1
Blueadventures Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Love the pics guys. Hope you stayed for the grande finale, the C17. It was awesome! Had a nice flight down to Watts Bridge and back. The weekend was great. my only feed back is that the committe consider a dedicated park area for the people camping under wing; the safety fenced area could have aligned with the spectators viewing area; that would have had the two back rows of aircraft parking assigned to overnight aircraft and within a defined fence. Had a terrific time. The nights were cold. Being from north I was little under prepared. Have some gloves on my shopping list. Over nighted at Emu park on the way back home. Looking forward to next years event. 4
davebutler Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Must agree it was a Great Show and enjoyed our week end amongst fellow aviators and aircraft. Like Blueadventures we were a little annoyed regarding the under wing camping. We arrived on the Friday and at first we were told we could camp under the wing then we could not then we could but could not stay at our tent/aircraft during show then tent and us had to move. A site dedicated to the Under Wing Campers would have been great. But this was a minor inconvenience It was still an excellent week end away. 1
fly_tornado Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 So did they get 10,000 people through the gates?
cscotthendry Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 So did they get 10,000 people through the gates? Abso-bloody-lutely! And then some I think. As for the issues around he underwing camping and the seemingly changeable rules, it's my understanding that CASA changed the rules at least once on the weekend. I was told by a reliable source that the rule that no one could be out in the parking area came about sometime on Friday. Those that had to enforce it were sympathetic to those who had to suffer it, but ... What CASA sez, goes... I was one who had to enforce that rule on Sunday, and I'm very pleased to report that I got NO grief whatever from those I had to stop from going through the gate. I thank all concerned for your patience with this and your good humour accepting the rules. Also I thank you on behalf of all of us at Watts Bridge, for coming along and making the event as successful as it was. 1
davebutler Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Hi cscotthendry, Yes we were told the changes were from CASA and we understand the position you folks were in and accepted it as such. Make no mistake we still had a good time and thank you guys for putting on an excellent show. As the Big man said "I will be back" Cheers Dave B. 1 1
