Not sure what you mean by this kaz? Are you suggesting that that the live side of all circuits should be to the south? There may be issues with that, like noise sensitive areas, low controlled airspace, etc. I still say ERSA is the only official indicator of circuit direction. Any ground signals should be secondary to it.

ERSA usually contains a statement along those lines if circuits are other than the normal left-hand variety.

Have a look at ERSA for YCEM and YLIL. These are two airfields pretty close to one another and so their circuits are designed to reduce the risk of conflict.

In the example cited the original post, circuits would all be to the south.

Actually Kaz, to be a bit pedantic, your statement for YPLC should have been "All circuits to the EAST."

ERSA calls for RWY 33 to be RH but a circuit to the south on that runway would be LH. 072_teacher.gif.7912536ad0b89695f6408008328df571.gif 074_stirrer.gif.5dad7b21c959cf11ea13e4267b2e9bc0.gif

In Europe a few strips have an arrow underscored below the runway number (great system) should have it here at non controlled strips.

It's Mums fault...I am naturally left-handed but she made do things right-handed like I was normal.

ERSA Aviators Mandatory BIBLE

Essential Download on OZRWY

Also in AOPA Pilots Notes.

With many straight in Approaches do people even overfly and look at ground signals?

I know they should and as an ARO have had people land on closed runways.

Why? didn't seen sign near windsock or get NOTAM.

Rules are there and rules are ignored.

ERSA mate..
