turboplanner Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 World's largest aircraft crashes gently in second test flight
fly_tornado Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Probably need to learn how to fly it a bit better
M61A1 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Yeah, he should probably get onto a flying forum, no shortage of experts there to tell him how to do it properly... 1 3
fly_tornado Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I thought the Airlander might have worked and then I found out it was a cancelled military project. ... and then I wondered what military brain can't put a large slow moving target in front of a taliban fighter armed with a RPG and not see various possible outcomes.
Yenn Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 According to todays ABC news it was the size of 6 double decker buses. Obviously nowhere near the size of a Zeppelin, in fact I would say a 747 is about that size.
kasper Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Yes, not in the same size class - 91m long vs 245m, 38000m^2 vs 200,000m^2 But it is the largest current aircraft. And never forget that despite its size and the fact it looks like a big marshmallow it has 20,000kg of airframe as its inertial mass ... running into the ground at a few miles an hour still really buggers up the front end with that sort of mass behind it
