kasper Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Never nice to see an old girl like that (Ryan STA VH-SQD) but always great to see the pilot walk away from an engine out. 1
gregrobertson Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 The Ryan belongs to Graham Hosking who was flying it. Reportedly the engine just stopped. He has done a great job putting it down as he has. I'm sure he will rebuild her.
facthunter Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Some of those were re engined with Gipsy Majors. Bit heavy. The original was a Menasco Pirate (supercharged.) Nev
Old Koreelah Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 There is one in the Temora museum. A thing of beauty.
geoffreywh Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 aaaah what a shame. t'was a lovely aeroplane
Bernie Knight Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Good to hear the pilot Graham was ok. It appears he used foliage and trees to slow down to avoid the freeway according to news reports. I know this Ryan and have seen it along with other Ryan projects at Tyabb in his hangar. Such a good example that was meticously restored.
