NT5224 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Yesterday was my birthday and my gorgeous wife presented me with a very personal little gift -a tiny flying fox- she knitted as a mascot for our cockpit. He's about two inches tall and soft, so no hazard and I have just the spot for him on the dashboard. In true aviator style he's got a leather helmet and goggles and scarf... :) Does anybody else fly with a mascot? Alan 9 1

Alan I knew a couple of pilots who usually took a "Pilot-Bear" along with them. I have one too, but it's so old, the poor buggars goggles are falling apart and his not much of a help.
KRviator Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 The previous KRviatrix bought me the Red Bearon Beanie Bear as a present well over a decade ago. He has lived in each car I've owned since, standing guard on the forward part of the center console. His little tag has the quote: Bearon is here to celebrate; A special and historic date; To mark 100 years of flight; And to honor the brothers Wright!
mnewbery Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I take this with me to air shows. Occasionally I show it to people who come to the front door asking for a donation
facthunter Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I suppose if you have nobody you could hang one of those little skeletons like in car rear windows. Nev
Yenn Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 John Johanson has taken his bear round the world, East- West and over the poles
facthunter Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I've seen a photo of a couple who were totally bare in a trike. I suppose they had nothing on, so went flying to pass the time. Nev 2
Yenn Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Were they the same couple that went skydiving?
facthunter Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Doubt it. Their assets were frozen in the first instance. Nev 1
eightyknots Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 In Sydney, the Kingsford Smith Airport is colloquially known as "Mascot Airport". 1 1
