Kyle Communications Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I really enjoyed that...thanks for posting. Knew most of the proceedures but he certainly did a great job explaining it
facthunter Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Good presentation. Notice how sensitive the desired slope gets near the ground. World's biggest forced landing. Nev 1
rankamateur Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Critical glide slope, too slight and bounce off the atmosphere, would have to ruin your dinner plans.
facthunter Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 The original programme was designated "Dyna Soar" as a reusable entry vehicle concept not using a parachute. They generally get to look a bit used after a flight due to the heating of the surfaces. Weighs about as much as a Boeing B 727 from memory. A good exercise in energy management which should be considered in all forms of flight. Nev 1
DGL Fox Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Great explanation...loved it... now they just need a new type of engine for the future !!!! David
mkennard Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 A great read is "Into the Black" by Rowland White. Talks about the design and the first flight.
