When you go into it the LOW cost FEEDER services don't exist. The seat cost/mile is too high. The "newer " 200+ seaters just kill the equipment used for the regionals, and the customers can't see why the difference is so great and think they are getting ripped off. Nev

While there's not much future in running a Dash 8 for four people, I can remember Pagas operating a full Cherokee 6 from Adelaide to Port Augusta; it's a matter of identifying the market.

It's a matter of how much.

I would be happy to support a local club to buy an airfield up to about $50 even if I wasn't likely to use it.

Its a woeful idea and our powers that be shouldnt waste a minutes brain space on it...

We may as well start buying banana plantations in Brazil because 50 members eat bananas and two people travel to Brazil per annum

Good on you DrZoos.. That is about their maximum mentality. You forgot the cane farms in Brazil nearly all members eat sugar.

But that would indicate some sort of majority, so probably wouldn't pass the test.

I think most people are right on to this potential misuse of members' funds.

It's open to anybody to do some arrangement that they agree on, provided it's lawful and reasonable. It's different IF the RAAus did it WITHOUT large % member acceptance. RAAus is a National operation and has to be very aware of not being perceived to favour some or be Empire building contrary to the member's wishes and interests. Part of it's "charter " is LOW COST aviation. Nev

Back to support for existing airfields...

Of the few places we can go in WA some of them have banned Trikes and Gyro's further decreasing the options to land.

Have a look at Northam YNTM a public airfield. Come on RA-Aus show some support.

Someone smart at development would look at the possible returns by leasing out plots for hangers, maintenance

Facilities etc.

Give RAA members a chance to contribute in shares.

RAA office location would be my first thought. $$ rental etc.

My recent post indicated that there maybe a need for a light aircraft stip in close proximity.

Just my thoughts.

I'm not in favour of being forced to pay for airfields. I'm tired of politics, and B.S, so bought a paddock, and mow it myself. All are welcome for a coffee.

Possibly what we need is a list of "Ultralight Friendly Paddocks".

RAAUS is becoming expensive as it is.

Good on you Andrew,

The sad fact about the situation and no one has woken up. Aviation has to go through a stage of expansion (cold hard fact). To achieve this everything who flys has to be acknowledged and considered or there will be no growth path for expansion.

*Regulation is getting tougher *airports getting more restrictions --- now what does that add up to????

Look about and everyone will be able to see how aviation is shrinking.

GA is in the doldrums. The little recreational and sports planes will shrink without good management.

Privately owned airfields are something that is covered by law.

One can argue about their their individual restrictions as much as much as you like (agree or not) but the original post is about RAA buying/managing airports is just fanciful which ever way you look at it. Just not going to happen Australia wide.
