One of these was operated by a company which made a film using one of those really big Cine-Max cameras. It came into Camden for servicing a few years ago.

 

Seen from a distance, the Aircam is reminiscent of a 1920s Handley-Page airliner.

Bill Morgan, Up here in the Tolga area of the Atherton Tablelands, has one on floats! He flies it from his property there and Lake Tinaroo! Last time I spoke to Bill, he had it registered VH Experimental so that he could keep the third seat in it.

It has roughly the same performance as the Handley Page Airliner, admittedly they took up a little more aerial real estate ;-)

I do like the idea of an aluminium framed, 4 stroke drifter.....( folding wings would be good too)

 

This one looks "dead in the water" as far as sales go.....

An agent at Oshkosh told me that you must have a twin endorsement in the USA. However the Aircam has minimal asymmetric thrust an will take off from water on one engine if needed.

If you can afford two Rotax 912's I guess the kit price won't put you off.

That'll be a really good aircraft I reckon. A good replacement for the old Drifter, now with a 912, better landing gear, and durable all metal structure. That's designed by Max Tedesco who also designed the MXP 740, since copied by ICP and renamed the Savannah. He has long experience designing and building practical ultralight aircraft.

That` about it!.... Always comes down to what the individual want`s and how much money there is to play with!... Certainly heading back to a rich mans sport!
