Guest FlyingPhil Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Ive been playing around with the iPhone app called Cloud ahoy. Basically it maps your flight with an overlaid google satellite view. Pretty cool I thought but I'm sure the members out there have some advice on other apps. Click on here for an example of a recent training flight of mine at YBOA. My recent flight on February 1st 2017 around YBOA It's $45 a year, but you can trial it for a month free. Thoughts?!? Phil.
Cal Air 63 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 I have tried it, its not bad, but at $45, that's flying moola, I use FlightBook myself MyFlightbook Brent
Guest FlyingPhil Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Yeah thanks I'll have a look at that. Cheers.
Bernie Knight Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Looks different with the track and detail. but I'm a big fan of OzRunways. 2

Geoff13 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Don't you guys worry about running into one of these computer servers they keep in the clouds now a days? No problem for me. I am not game to go into the cloud.
Downunder Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Don't you guys worry about running into one of these computer servers they keep in the clouds now a days? Is that why we have to avoid clouds?.... lol.
Guest FlyingPhil Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Ha! Just read some of the replies. Nice. Yeah I'm thinking its (Cloud ahoy) is a little gimmicky and the newer 5.0 version is going to be $66 USD after march (currently $45 till then). I'll just enjoy the flights and leave it at that. Would'nt mind a go-pro to re-live my short comings but I think this isn't probably isn't kosher with instructors. I know that some schools activity encourage recording flights but as a part time instructor in the public service, I would'nt like to be filmed all the time. Who knows where that footage will end up. Anyhoo, it was good fun to try but I don't really need it.
