HummelBirdFour litres per hour = three litres reserve!, easy out of 18 ltr small tank fill, over-fill is 25 litres.

In the states they say 61 mpg.

The more fuel you carry, the faster the HummelBird flies, as the fuel-tank is ahead of the CG/pilot.

That's is truly extraordinarily - This is a major "thread drift" but the temptation is too much - I have always loved the look of the Hummel aircraft - real pocket fighters but as in life and most other things, including aircraft, you have to make compromises. I have no doubt you will correct me but I imagine a Hummel is good around the training area and may be the occasional short away trip, supported by ground trans/other larger aircraft and/or accommodation close to the airfield. You can not have much more then toothbrush/change of underpants baggage space. The better 1/2, tent, sleeping gear, cooking equipment/food etc etc must be totally out of the question ????

To me the Hummel must be something like a stripped down motorcycle - exhilarating performance on the smell of the oil rag but unfortunately non to practical.

Only wanted for solo flights of not more than fuel allows! 5 yes five hour's flight with adequate reverse's, Five hour's at say 75 knts, Gives a bit over 375 mile / 600 klmtr's.

would be great,

And

you would have to keep the kilos off, as each kilo of Fat reduces a kilo of fuel.

Someone cited the number of death's in RAA casualties, not morbid, but one twin-engine GA plane can take out half a years casualties from RAA.

We have had CVD ATPL for a significant amount of time.

I think the problem is too many people here have not had the actual "pleasure" of dealing with AVMED especially at class1level, and have no idea of the stupidity of certain members of that dis functional organisation - over ruling DAME decisions and then even not accepting specialists advice (in some cases) leads to dishonest medical information. And the new online system - well has to be experienced to be believed - my last renewal took four (4) hours to get the computer to accept the medical, then issued manually later. Reminds me of another organisation I deal with - Just incompetence in the areas that count!

HummelBirds fly like geese from Canada to Oshkosh, US of America, also from Italy to France!.

"Other popular manufacturers making their home in North Aircraft Display include the Zenith Aircraft Company, Hummel Aviation, and Kitfox Aircraft."

Quote taken from Oshkosh site.

Not me, I couldn't pass the "basic flight test" so am grounded, I just sit in the cockpit And dream, LoL.

But I certainly would like to give a five hour flight a try, in the HummelBird that is, probably die of starvation or dehydration before bladder worries.

If you go to

https://www.casa.gov.au/rules-and-regulations/standard-page/rule-development-projects

MS 99/04 - Increase in ultralight aeroplane maximum take-off weight limit

This project is now closed it says and not active...so its either done and dusted as far as CASA is concerned and its a yes or someone is pissing in our pockets......what is the latest you know of with the weight increase application with CASA

This is the most recent Discussion Paper that I have and it is also closed.

DP 0802OS - Mass increase for aeroplanes administered by Recreational Aviation Administration Organisations (RAAO) | Civil Aviation Safety Authority

So if a weight increase in RAA is a current CASA project , I'm unable to find it .
