Great stuff, OME.

 

And that locomotive right at the start is a sort of V twin....can't remember what they were called....but you can see the cylinder sticking up out of the side...and they then ran a drive shaft along under the engine (and I think sometimes the tender too) and drove all wheels. For better traction....

What a great movie! It was strange watching young people at work 100 years ago with such clarity and detail. And the construction methods were inspiring. Loved the planes too.

AH, steam,

 

First car's to do the 100mph. "Stanly Steamer" & "Doble Detroit", Killed off by bureaucracy, (Registration by weight).
