facthunter Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 It's shopped anyhow. The speed difference is too much by far. The Cessna can't reach the speed the tanker lands at and if the wake turbulence touched it the little one would be tossed to destruction. Nev 1
red750 Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 That's why it's in the silly pictures thread and not the gallery. 1 2
facthunter Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Well I've pointed out that it's silly, too. Nev 1
Old Koreelah Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 There was a pic of three generations of British fighters; each had a major AoA difference as the jet struggled to not fall out of the sky.
pylon500 Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 I had a photo somewhere of an F18 formating with a Sopwith Pup replica at Schofields way back when... Ah, found a linked version... 2
Old Koreelah Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Both of them working flat out at opposite edges of their respective flight envelopes!
pylon500 Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 And yet both on the verge of getting flutter😱 (The fins of F-18's are known to flutter at high alfa flight)
Flightrite Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 There’s no difference between the two in some ways, both were designed to kill!
red750 Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 The prop stopped midflight, so they had to be towed home. 3
red750 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I posted this on the other forum, but for those who don't access it, this is aviation related so here it is as well. 1 3
Flightrite Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 It’s actually called the ‘box office’ when two shielers are at the controls, scary stuff😂😂😉 2
red750 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Anyone got a de-clutter button? Cockpit of an An-12, military version of the An-10. 1
facthunter Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 That's fairly normal for an analogue cockpit with all the engine and fuel etc jiggers, Nev 1
pylon500 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Just think, there's a world full of aeroplanes flying around the outside of that mess. 1
old man emu Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Wot! No cup holders !!!! I like the double redundant fans to keep the pilot cool if the big fans stop spinning. 1 1
pylon500 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Got this in my Barnstormers feed, couldn't resist the edit... 1
Flightrite Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 A real man’s cockpit there, they don't make ‘em like that anymore, pilots included👍 1
facthunter Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Can't see any throttles. Must be overhead, 4 engines the centre panel is mostly relating to them. Pressurised cabin only and carries a flight engineer. Panel lighting probably controlled by about 8 rheostats. Nev 1
Old Koreelah Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Looks like the designers were faced with an oversupply of analogue instruments. Like the Bristol Two Litre, a sleek aluminium car produced after the war; it had a plethora of gauges right across the whole dash. 1
facthunter Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I doubt there's much there that isn't necessary. Lots of wheels/brakes antiskid 8 fuel tanks and valves and pumps multiple hydraulic and emergency say air propsynch and torquemeters. Turbine temp, electrical systems Pressurusatin and air conditioning emergency flap ext,etc etc. Nev
facthunter Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 The cloud simulates the lion, hence SIMba, Nev 1 1
