fly_tornado Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 good coverage with pilot interview Plane makes emergency landing on Highway 99 North near Eugene Airport 1
Yenn Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Rotax 912 is the standard engine. I thought they were supposed to be bulletproof. 1 2
Brett Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Sounds like it needs a new oil pressure sender fitted after it gets trailered home.
Brett Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 He doesn't actually say it stopped but hey? I must be missing something.
Brett Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I'll have to go to spec savers.....I read it again and it does say it stopped.....lol ;) 1
Downunder Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I had to read it twice as to whether the engine stopped or he just put it down because the gauge showed no pressure as well...... A mile or two from the field, I think I would have given the strip a shot if it was still running.....
JEM Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Looking at the carpark footage there doesn't appear to be any oil leakage or staining. 1
planesmaker Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Rotax not a proper engine? Time to take the blinkers off.
facthunter Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Engines that don't fail have never been built..Nev 1 3 1
Yenn Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Rotax may not be a proper engine in some peoples opinion, but they do have a large number of engines flying and are affordable, plus their safety record is not bad. In about 20 years flying at my home strip I can only remember one Rotax engine failure.

Bernie Knight Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 We just did a 180 and pushed it into the car park Took the golf clubs out and went for a round Pretty causal about it all..
Bernie Knight Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Yes Yes home now. Head off late May for 5 weeks though again.. Managed to drag the old body out to Lethbridge yesterday for the BBQ. Bernie
Bernie Knight Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Surprisingly it was a very nice day at Lethbridge. Even a Drifter was up to do circuits. Don't want to Hi - jack this a thread and so sent you a conversation..
