RLDNC Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I've recently picked up a Lockwood Super Drifter with a 912ULS 100hp engine. I was warned by another pilot that Drifters experience some control blanking below 50mph, but I have yet to experience it. I've read a few posts where some of you have mentioned the Drifter "Waffle." Is this the phenomenon I was warned cautioned about? Whether it is or it isn't, if like to hear from a more experienced Drifter driver their thoughts on the matter.
SDQDI Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Well I have certainly heard some drifter pilots 'Waffle on' but to be fair other pilots could be guilty of similar offences! But I can't help you with control blanking as I have not flown in a drifter yet but there are a few notable drifter pilots here who will no doubt jump in and help. 1

Callahan Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 If you're still having the problem with waffling, I've been flying a Drifter since late 80s but never with a 912.....you lucky guy! No waffling with my former 582 or current 503.
