An AWESOME display of this monster sized Yak-54 by Steve Carr at the East Kirkby Large Model Association Show 2017.

 

Wingspan: 180 in (4.58M)

 

Wing Area: 6290 sq in (40580sq cm)

 

Fuselage length: 161 in(4.1M)

 

Weight: empty weight with hardware 65.9 lbs (29.9kg)

 

Engine: 400cc min (Self designed/built 550cc engine used by Steve Carr)

Ok, this is just getting ridiculous.

 

If you're going to build something that's over 50% of the original... why not just build a real one?!

Different kettle of fish. These guys genuinley prefer flying an RC plane from the ground rather than sit in the cockpit. Simple as that. Plus the rules and regs for building a full size aircraft have got to be quite a lot more complicated than what is required for a model.
