Guest Guest Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Hello, does anyone know if it's actually legal to land a UL on the beach in QLD? I was witnessing a Drifter on the beach today in Noosa that was repeatedly taking off, landing and flying low... would be interested to know. Nos
Ultralights Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Is the same also possible in NSW? i have a lovely house on the beach just south of South west rocks, would be my ultimate wekeend away to fly to the beach house, taxi up, and spend the weekend in the surf, swimming and eating fresh seafood, then fly home on the sunday..... fortunatly the beach i have in mind is 12 Km long, and un populated.
Guest ozzie Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I think i do remember reading a note in the RAA mag last year about beach op's it said, NO. i recommend talking to someone before doing it.
hiperlight Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Ask someone in authority and you will get the answer you don't want. Bruce
Wilfred Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 In QdI understand you must have a permit from the Parks and Wildlife Aurthority as they control the majority if not all of our beaches. Unless it is a declared emergency you may also have problems with your insurance if something goes wrong http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/publications/p01087aa.pdf/Landing_aircraft_and_recreational_craft_in_QPWS_managed_areas_Operational_policy.pdf
Guest Graeme Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Your local council looks after beach access to vehicles and planes. We regularly use our local beaches with the permission of our council. Each Australia day we conduct a fly past for the crowd and all plane assemble on the beach for an orderly take off.
