Good locations in NSW for a day trip?

Looking to build up a list of nice places to fly for a day trip. For example a winery that has an airstrip, or a small coastal town with airstrip next to a beach.

 

Flying with RA-AUS licence.

 

If there are any suggestions please post.

 

Or if there is already a list somewhere

Cessnock Airport in the Hunter Valley is surrounded by wineries .

Temora, the Aviation Museum is worth a visit. Moruya and Merimbula are very scenic.

Narromine is within easy walking distance to town.

 

Lightning Ridge is interesting, but you may need to book some transport into town. The Bowls club may be willing to come out and pick you up. There are some interesting art galleries in town.

Goolgowi 30 NM North of Griffith has a good dirt airstrip and a great heritage pub with motel alongside. Historic markers around town tell its story.

 

The GVAC was there for the QB long weekend and had a fantastic time. The pub picked us up in their bus and dropped us back again.

 

Griffith for wine and a visit to the heritage museum should be on the to do list. Best I have seen especially if you are into old machinery.

 

Hay pub also very accommodating and this town has lots to see, too.

 

POoncarrie pub is another one that will provide transport and is well worth the visit. Accommodation is basic but the people great.

 

Urbana pub has good meals and reasonable accommodation.

 

And you have to stay over at Bourke at least once.

Mudgee, in the heart of the wine growing district. Mudgee aero club has a courtesy car if you phone ahead to book it.

 

(N.B. Whether this is a day trip or not depends on a) how fast your aeroplane flies and/or b) your start point.)

Yamba, palmers Island strip, get a cab in to town & beaches all close by.contact me if coming I may be able to pick up & drop off.

Rylstone particularly on a market day - great little grass strip . Wineries etc etc.
