I'm planning on buying one of Ian's windsocks. My question is, which size do I need? My strip will be 400m long and I'll most likely be flying a Skyranger or similar aircraft.

Cheers,

Jason.

Hi Jason,

I definitely recommend "Bigger is better", when it comes to windsocks. We usually arrive back over our strip at 1000ft AGL and our 8ft windsock is just the right size to give a meaningful indication of what the wind is doing on the ground. Wind generator is good for a 2nd opinion too.

Cheers,

Glen

Mudjeep,

I'd probably get the large pre lubricated rib tickler version :big_grin:006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif006_laugh.gif.d4257c62d3c07cda468378b239946970.gif006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

Just make sure the windsock is not black. Very hard to see from the air. So I have been told...

I have heard the black one is 6" longer though, so that could be an advantage! ;)
