Guest mudjeep Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I'm planning on buying one of Ian's windsocks. My question is, which size do I need? My strip will be 400m long and I'll most likely be flying a Skyranger or similar aircraft. Cheers, Jason.
eastmeg2 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hi Jason, I definitely recommend "Bigger is better", when it comes to windsocks. We usually arrive back over our strip at 1000ft AGL and our 8ft windsock is just the right size to give a meaningful indication of what the wind is doing on the ground. Wind generator is good for a 2nd opinion too. Cheers, Glen

Guest Fred Bear Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Just make sure the windsock is not black. Very hard to see from the air. So I have been told...
Guest Cirrus Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I have heard the black one is 6" longer though, so that could be an advantage! ;)
