pimlico Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Hi, I'm new here so sorry for the potentially dumb question but is there an equivalent to the UK's SSDR single seat dereg type /class? I tried Googling it but couldn't find an answer. Thanks
Soleair Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Yes. Over here you can build under section 95.10 of CASA airworthiness regs. This means single seat, max gross 300kg, stall speed can't remember but maybe 40knots. The RAA run the ultralight aircraft. There is lots of info on homebuilds on their site. Cheers Bruce
kasper Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Hi, I'm new here so sorry for the potentially dumb question but is there an equivalent to the UK's SSDR single seat dereg type /class? I tried Googling it but couldn't find an answer. Thanks Yes and definitely no. Single seat under 300kg yes. CAO 95.10 covers these. But they cannot be factory built anymore and only from your own imagination and hands to build. Nobody has bothered with plans approval or kit approval on this category. Single seat from kit or plans but heavier than 95.10 are the experimental home built. There are kits and plans and even factory built allowed under this area but most Australian factory built from Oz or imported are two seat aircraft. So yes there are alternates that are similar to ssdr but factory built is just not possible in the alternates. And my uk self designed and built ssdr I brought with me here to oz and it's registered 95.10. 1
pimlico Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 Hi, Thanks for the info and the link Civil Aviation Order 95.10 - Privately built single place ultralight aeroplanes - Exemption from compliance with certain provisions of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (12/12/2004). Not sure what it means on the legislation site but there was something about "no longer in force"? Thanks again
kasper Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 The Australian system for ultralights runs on exemptions under orders that are on set duration. They get renewed. 95.10 was reissued in April this year. Civil Aviation Order 95.10 Instrument 2017 Is the current 95.10
