gibby Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 One person trapped, another treated for injuries after light plane crash near Port Macquarie - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) 1
turboplanner Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 A bit more news..... Light plane crash south of Port Macquarie airport
red750 Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Interesting. Footage on 9 News showed the aircraft wreckage and registration, but a check of RegoSearch.com shows that rego assigned to a balloon. The aircraft is reported as a Diamond DA40. 1
red750 Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Perhaps it was a Q Yes, you're right. I'll put it down to the night video. Looked like an O.
Teckair Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 On the news they said the pilot was an instructor. It looked like they had an engine failure on take off and went straight ahead. If that is correct then congratulations to the pilot she made the best out of a bad situation and probably saved two lives.
ben87r Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I unfortunately know the pilot well. She's doing ok and will come good but multiple fractures, the student is apparently in a worse situation. Very very lucky people.

cooperplace Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 south of that airport is surrounded by nasty dense bushland, not a good place to have an efato. Hope both of them have a complete recovery. Is there any update on their progress?
Love to fly Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Perhaps it was a Q I'll never understand how this site works. djpacro's post got a caution from Geoff_H. Why? Or was it a slip of the digit on a smart phone? 1 2
turboplanner Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 The Caution needs to be removed, and its position left blank on the screen. Way to many finger accidents, and when it us used, it just starts fights. 3 1 1
facthunter Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I think anyone using the caution should follow up with an explanation. Nev 3
Geoff13 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 If someone gives me a caution I assume one of the following. 1. It was a finger fault. 2. They do not know what they are talking about. I would not intentionally give a caution without some sort of follow up post. 2 1 2
DrZoos Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 I suspect crosswind or late upwind AFATO as they almost made it back...
gibby Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 I hope the two involved are getting better and make a speedy recovery. Daimond aircraft have a pretty good safety record. There is fairly major damage by the look of the photo 1
