jetjr Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 ERJ135 looses steering on landing Brisbane last night In landing roll, nosewheel control appeared to fail, fast hard turn onto taxiway and 90deg turn Had to be towed to gate Could have been serious and not uncommon in this model jet it seems
onetrack Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 There apparently have been several ERJ135 nosewheel "events", but to say it's "not uncommon", might be overstating the problem. At least one of the events was pinned down to contaminated hydraulic fluid - not really a design fault. The FAA says they have found around "at least a dozen" reports of "problems" with the ERJ135 nose gear since 2001 - but doesn't say there is one specific problem area, or one specific design fault with the nose gear. Without seeing the full list of that one dozen and more reports, it can be difficult to ascertain whether there's a common factor, or whether there were a dozen or more unrelated events, that caused nose wheel problems.
