Old Koreelah Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Just saw this on FBSo thought we all would admire his dedication. https://youtu.be/KtdjkkiHWn4 Spacesailor Sounds interesting, Spacey. Can you post a link for non-FB users?
Mick Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Sounds interesting, Spacey. Can you post a link for non-FB users? You are not missing anything OK. The video is dodgy at best. It seems really strange that better quality video is not being made after all the effort to build thisimpressive machine. 2 1
farri Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Best I`ve been able to find, so far. First Flight Of The Bally Bomber Completed | Aero-News Network TheBallyBomber.com | SPECS 1
fly_tornado Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 now for sale N413ME BALLY’S BOMBER B-17G – Courtesy Aircraft
Birdseye Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Seems odd that having claimed 55 hours flying the empty weight and cruise speed are still shown as estimated.
onetrack Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 That's some major feat - but it appears the choice of Hirth engines means the Bally Bomber is underpowered, and only climbs about 350 ft a minute, according to the bloke who flew it.
kasper Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Apparently over 900kg and running direct drive each of those Hirths are not turning fast and from the look the exhausts are not tuned at all so very little power available. Keeping scale look has come at a price ... 1
spacesailor Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 I couldn't find the time to go get a camera & take photos when I was working the metal into an airoframe. Probably many more builders have the same problems. spacesailor
