Hello all. I'm in the cold windy state of North Dakota USA and I'm building a Taylor-monoplane and sure could use some photos of the tail group to help me in my build. I have a well built Fuselage but the fella who built it glued in the vertical Stab and the prints show it to be removable. I'm having trouble seeing what the builder had in mind to get the mounting straps through the opening or was his intentions to mount the straps last? If anyone has some input it sure would be helpful. Pictures and response can be sent to me at [email protected] Thanks Don.

One of my friends built one many years ago and I visited him many times during its construction. When I lived in the UK for a bit I visited the Taylor family - Terry is still actively supporting the design so I suggest that you contact him at TaylorTitch.co.uk

This photo suggests that the vertical stab was not designed to be removable http://www.taylortitch.co.uk/images/thumbs/001.jpg

Which part of ND are you in? I lived in WY for a while and flew up to ND a couple of times.

I'm near Grand Forks in the north east area. The plans definitely show the fin removable. the plans show that the mounting straps are on the inside of the longerons. tho many pictures of T-mono show the straps on the outside. This is why I'm asking around and hope a UK builder can give me some pointers.

Hi Don,

my stab is dowelled to the fuse at the front & bolted to the rudder post with a cut out over the elevator. It also needs to be removable 'cause the horizontal stab in mine is one piece.

I also have plans showing this. Have included a piccy which may or may not help.

Cheers, Roger.

PS: These aircraft are an absolute joy to fly, hope you have loads of fun in it.

Thank you Roger. Beautiful plane you have. Dad said the Taylor-mono was one of the best he ever flown and as a cropduster for over 30 years to me it says alot.

I will Roger. I'm just finishing my ribs for the Elevator and Horz. Stab and rudder. Doing the shaping of the Spars and getting hinges off my retired KR-2 cleaned up for mounting. I have some pictures posted on the HomeBuiltAirplane forum. I have a cowling for a Soneria that I hope to make fit the T-mono. I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet on this forum but will check into it.On the HBA forum I can go to my pictures on the PC and download to the site and I'am sure its the same way here but I only get asked for the image URL and mine are JPEG I guess I need to use a photo bucket?? Love your plane. Don

Down at the bottom there is an option that says "upload a file"...I know it is confusing...I think it took me years to find it...you expect it to be up the top with the rest of the functions...use that to upload a file directly to the post...It gives you a choice between uploading as a thumbnail or fullsize. I recommend that later.

Thank you guys. I have discovered that my Taylor monoplane is the only one being built in the US as far as I know at this time. Would love to see some new ones roll out. 012_thumb_up.gif.cb3bc51429685855e5e23c55d661406e.gif

Hello fella's. I did get the KR-2 root spars cut down to fit and opened one side to put in bridge bracing. Probably just added weight but more strength the better I guess.312382076_SPAR2.jpg.a15ce2eece359be4fba1c157fa43fa84.jpg Gives me a chance to put new ply on one side.strong.gif.435354f0cb42658a3b249f79587768c0.gif

I cleaned up some WAF I had off my KR-2 looking for flaws and mainly just to get a good look at the metal and they seem to be fine. I also cut the Mahogany ply to plate the root spars for I can get the spars onto the drill press and get the control stick mounted and WAF along with the front seat mounting brackets. 122228005_waf1.jpg.fdd5881e3b7de4edd3e8840eedcd1e15.jpg
