He needs to fly more around the horses. There are horses next to where I fly.

They don't even look up any more, they're so used to aircraft passing over their heads on approach.

I would reckon the horses would make more noise than the aircraft, and at all hours. (and yes, I've had horses)

After watching the story on TV, I don't think the problem is the nags in the paddock. It's the old grey mare in the house.

Animals soon grow accustomed to noise and, like us, ignore it. Expose them to it for a few days (with the owner present as a calmative for the horses) and the next week they won't even stop grazing as a plane goes over.

Yes, just another case of NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) where some people have too much say in other peoples lives. The horses couldn't give a hoot about a light aircraft in the area.

I wonder how many of these idiots would complain if they couldn't land in Sydney cause their flight was delayed taking off all cause of the stupid curfew laws Australia has? Councils have way too much power and the numpties out there are being pandered to all too often!!

The "Modern" jet engines are lots quieter than the earlier ones. Nev

True. But the curfew remains in place.

The disruptions this idiotic curfew causes the Airlines is huge! The gateway to Australia & it's closed wth a sign on the door 11pm every night, closed back at 6am!! We are the laughing stock of the aviation community world wide!

It should simply be as follows:

1. "Hush jets" with sound levels not exceeding x dB may operate 24 hours, around the clock.

2. All other (noisier) aircraft obey the current curfew hours.

* Where x is sound level not likely to interrupt the sleep of 90% of surrounding residents ....bearing in mind that the locals have had free sound insulation retro-fitted to their homes over the last 10 years.

It's like the old old story.

"I don't like the shadow the mountain casts over the verandah of the house I just built. Move the bl**dy mountain!"

There should be a computer base cross matching system for ticket purchases. If you are listed as having made complaints about aircraft noise, you can't buy a ticket.075_amazon.gif.0882093f126abdba732f442cccc04585.gif

Same goes for anyone driving a vehicle with an anti-mining/quarrying sticker....pull them over and cancel their rego in order to prevent them from being hypocrites.

Alf, I was referring to the posts above about the curfew and how people buy near a known situation likely to cause upset, then demand it be moved just for them - mountain, airport, industrial complex and so on.
