bexrbetter Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Take-off abandoned on Perth-bound Qantas flight Take-off abandoned on Perth-bound Qantas flight QF577 Passengers on a Perth-bound Qantas flight faced five-hour delays after the pilot abandoned take-off at the eleventh hour this afternoon. A Qantas spokesperson confirmed a steering issue on flight QF577 from Sydney to Perth resulted in the pilot abandoning take-off about 2.17pm (AET). One passenger described the plane slewing left violently, then right and then shuddering as the take-off was aborted. But fellow passenger Jeremy Jones says that description is exaggerated. “I was on board and the plane tugged left as it accelerated — certainly not violently,” he said. “It then straightened before the pilot took power off. The shuddering was the brakes being applied. 1

cooperplace Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 surely the hero pilot was merely steering the stricken craft away from a school? 2 1
facthunter Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Perhaps you don't do anything at the "Eleventh" Hour.. It would seem too late. Nev
old man emu Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Parents rushed in fear to Bexley Public School on reports of an out of control QANTAS jet heading towards the school. Bexley Public School is a long established educational facility providing for the growth and development of children from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Established over 125 years ago, the school lies beneath the flight path to Sydney International Airport's East/West runway. Local resident and parent of children at Bexley PS, Mahatma Kote, deplored the danger the airport poses to his children. "We are refugees from a war-torn land where the sound of jet fighters and missiles drowned out the bird song every day. My wife and I live in fear that one day the jet leaving the airport will fall from the sky onto the school." 1
Yenn Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 The school of course was there before the airport, as was Mahatma Kote and also m gloves.
facthunter Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Think there would be worse places to live. That suburb and the runway have been there a long time and todays planes are much quieter than the Iron Duck. VC -10 and the early B 707's.. Nev
Super Cub Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 If the pilot rejected the takeoff at the 'eleventh hour', that may have been after 'V1'. Maybe the media should demand a full inquiry.
old man emu Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 The school of course was there before the airport, Ergo, on the basis of first come - biggest say, the airport must go!

Gravity Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Imagine if that where Tigers! The Sky Gods QF would demand an emeadiate shut down, an inquiry and the grubby media would have a field day !! 1
