Phil Perry Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 First I'd heard about this. I'm assuming that the red bits are Poppies. . . . Nice Idea though.
APenNameAndThatA Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I think bombing blood might send the wrong message. 1
Phil Perry Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 I think bombing blood might send the wrong message. Not only that,. . .IT COULD encourage Larrikin Lancaster owners to engage in potentially dangerous low flying too. . . :-) 1
Litespeed Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The pouring blood/bombs or poppies is tone deaf at best. Any memorial must also account for the mass death and destruction it also represents. Not a comment on the brave crews but the reality of the missions. Hard to please everyone but this looks like what Boris Johnson's would give to Germany as a gift.
johnm Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 the memorial must surely represent the aircrew that died ? it could n't possibly represent those that perished by bombardment - the majority being civilians - this would then be a macabre memorial

Just to clarify, I myself believe that there is no doubt that the bombing shortened the war and was completely morally justified. (For example, the idea that more allied soldiers and civilians should have died to spare the lives of German civilians is ludicrous.)
johnm Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 ................................. death and war are such great bedfellows - neither discriminates
