Happyflyer Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 When you think about it surfing is just another form of weight shift.
Marty_d Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 He wouldn't have wanted unexpected turbulence when doing his "look ma, no hands" routine! That actually freaked me out a little bit. And no chute either.

kgwilson Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Back in the 1970s the Yanks tried to rename "Hang Gliding" as "Sky Surfing" as I think they didn't like the connotations of the word "Hang". I have a book published in 1974 by Dan Poynter called "Hang Gliding - the basic handbook of Sky Surfing". Of course the term never gained acceptance but this effort makes it a reality.
M61A1 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 I suppose you could argue that...but it's a lot closer to it than hang gliding.
winsor68 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 I suppose you could argue that...but it's a lot closer to it than hang gliding. I would 100% disagree. Slope flying of any sort is very much like surfing...as in the lift comes in like rolling waves and you use it to stay on the move exactly like a surfer.. Loose life and like a surfer you sink into the water.
