coljones Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Nominations now open 1 June 2018 Recreational Aviation Australia is pleased to invite members to nominate for election to the board. With almost ten thousand members, we are the fastest growing group of aviators in Australia, and the role of our Board is to supervise overall business and compliance performance. Under the RAAus Constitution (Clause 36) two directors are required to stand down and nominations are called for from the membership to fill these vacancies. Current Directors are eligible to renominate. All candidates must ensure they are available to attend Canberra on the weekend of 3rd and 4th of November for a Board meeting and the AGM. Nominations open 1 June 2018 and close 6 July 2018, 5:00pm EST. Members are invited to attend the 2018 Annual General Meeting to be held in Canberra on the 3rd of November at 2:00pm. Yenn Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Have a look at the info pack. I am still digesting it. I have little faith in the current board, but then I wonder if I would be able to do any better. Getting on the board, does allow you to vote for who will be chairman. Maybe that is a big thing for the future of the RAAus
Yenn Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 You still have a couple of days before nominations close. I went to a PDP or whatever it is called in Rocky, last Saturday. Met Michael Linke, Noel Shaefer and Jarrod Smith. Jarrod and Noel seemed to know what they were talking about, but Michael seems to be just a businessman. I don't know if he even flies a plane, certainly doesn't talk the talk. The way RAAus is now going seems to be to take over all non commercial light aircraft flying. They say they will still look after the old style ultralight, but I cannot see it happening without greater costs. Remember if you don't nominate, you are just about saying that you are happy with those who are there. I am not nominating, just too old to want to get involved in warfare.
kasper Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 And I’m not nominating given the way member funds were spent to silence me and not even allow discussion of the way the changes to current constitution were brought in. Oh and FYI the last election was procedurally improper by their own rules as is the current one as I KNOW that they have not complied with the new constitution in relation to the call for nominations They - being the two Michaels - are doing whatever they want regardless. 2
Yenn Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Nothing new there Kasper. the whole country is falling to poor practices, which the ACCC and government in general are happy to sit back and do nothing.
ev17ifly2 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 As Will Smith once said "stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings and emotions"
