Paulmilo Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hypothetical and potentially stupid question, however, should the MTOW be lift to say 750kg.(or higher), does that mean that aircraft that are presently certified and require a LAME to complete the 100hrly will be able to be serviced by the pilot, should they feel confident to do so? In order to meet registration criteria, I am also assuming that other aspects such as stall speeds etc are still met. it just seems counter intuitive that an aircraft that cannot for instance be transferred to the Experimental Register ATM will suddenly be allowed to be transferred to the RAA register and thus introduce more freedoms (and maybe some more restrictions on where it can fly etc). I assume that the owner will still need to comply with any SB or AD that are issued for the aircraft, it’s just how they are complied with that will effectively change (ie LAME, L2, pilot?). Is that a correct assumption? so an aircraft like a Cessna C150 with SIDS requirements etc can be owned, maintained and flown by the pilot with an RAA rego? Sounds neat and a wee bit more affordable.
