Haha good spot. Did the same trip 3 times in a week! Definitely ranks amongst my favourite aviation experiences.

Another way to look at it could be:

 

Spartans: Life expectancy 26-30, unless killed in battle earlier. Whole of life spent hungry.

 

Vikings: Life expectancy around the same. Whole of life spent stinking of fish.

 

Now: Life expectancy 70-100. Whole of life spent with health, food and career opportunities never dreamed of in ancient times. Not to mention the ability to fly...
