GeoffRV7
First one is crappy photo, but still a favorite: Yours truly sitting in the important seat of a FA-18 Classic Hornet.. "Now, where is the start button???" 2 & 3 are at Avalon Airshow, 2013. I've been trying to get this effect off the wings of my RV7 ever since.... lol. red750
Came across this photo of the first light aircraft I ever flew in, pax not pilot. I hired it for a joyflight with my brother. Prior to that I had only one return flight to Tasmania in a Viscount.
djpacro
Came across this photo of the first light aircraft I ever flew in' date=' pax not pilot. I hired it for a joyflight with my brother.[/ATTACH'] I wonder if that is the same one that I had my first ride in (even before my flight to Tassie) - 175? with Geoff Seymour as pilot. red750
Neil Thompson, 3UZ traffic reporter was my pilot. The photo looks like Oliver's Hill Frankston to me.
willedoo
The photo looks like Oliver's Hill Frankston to me. You beat me to it, Peter. I was going to ask where the photo was taken. The rise in land height sparked the interest.

red750
I know this is an aviation site and thread, but as I mentioned in the More Space Junk thread, I had been photographing cruise ships today, so thought I'd slip one in here. This is the Pacific Jewel.
Birdseye
I think 'Pacific Wart' or 'Pacific Slug' would be more fitting. An outhouse on stilts.
red750
Unfortunately I won't be down that way on Wednesday, the Queen Mary 2 is due in.
planedriver
This is the Pacific Jewel Peter, which i've sailed on, though not my favorite ship. Maybe you got the name wrong. Rgds. Planey
planedriver
Your photo was actually of the MV Seabourn Encore though the Jewel was in port the same day (Still bloody ugly)!
red750
Sorry planey, had looked at the shipping times, got'em mixed up. I recall seeing the Encore mentioned when I looked them up a couple of days ago. The only other one (apart from the SoT) at Station Pier was the Astor, which was caught by the strong wind and suffered a gash in the side. Was pulled away by a tug and sailed, so the gash must have been high above the water line.
planedriver
No apology needed mate , your aviation posts are more accurate which I enjoy. Just glad I don't have to pay for the damage to the Astor. That would knock a hole in my pension for sure.
Birdseye
These nautical 'pimp mobiles' are a travesty to nautical design. No place on any site that supports aesthetic design.
red750
There appears to be quite an amount of opinion on cruise ships. Let's take this discussion to Whats Up at this thread: What is your favourite cruise ship

red750
I was back at Station Pier again today. I have a couple of hours to spare in the vicinity of the city one Monday of every month, while my wife attends a concert at the Arts Centre. Port Melbourne is one of the places close by where interesting things can be found. Today, the largest ship in the RAN, HMAS Adelaide was berthed there. While it is quite large, it is very boring to look at. Of course, I had my camera with me.
