Pearo Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 Hi Folks, Does anyone know of anyway to get from Ayers Rock Resort to Airport outside the standard shuttle bus times? No one seems interested in taking us out there, even if we offer them cash. Was hoping to fly out to Arkaroola tomorrow but it might be a bit tight if I cant leave here earlier.
Geoff_H Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 You must have lots of money to be able to afford the landing fees. I just flew around for some time then flew around the Olga's then on to Warburton. I have seen enough. The radio guy asked for landing details, told him none just flying around. There is a no fly area.

BusaKaine Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 I hope you are having a great trip, loving the photo’s make sure you all start posting more. check with the resort to see if they can offer transfers. Plus it’s only $55 landing for under 5700kg, inc first 24h landing, not that bad given the cost of accom etc.
Tasmag Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Landed there a couple of years ago, just rang the resort and they sent someone out, even though we were only in a tent at the campground. There wasn't a charge. Mike 1
Pearo Posted July 11, 2018 Author Posted July 11, 2018 All good, just going to suck it up and take the standard transfer.
frank marriott Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Last time I went there (before it became an aboriginal rip off - so some years ago - still known as Ayres Rock) we landed on the airstrip next to the rock, collected by the local motel and had a great time. Twice actually, a couple of years apart - once as a CHTR and once with 3 private aircraft. Since the BS started I have not returned and don’t intend to. The whole “aboriginal business” thing is just political which I refuse to be part of, sad really, but just my attitude to the matter. A great “natural” resource bastardised by politics - by BOTH sides. 1
Bernie Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Parks and wildlife have the lease on all that area all the money goes to them . Bernie .
Bruce Tuncks Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 I reckon your best bet is to go the camping grounds and make a private deal.
