Graham Pukallus Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Fraser Coast Wings and Wheels Event. Saturday 11th August Maryborough Airport and Harvey Bay Seafood Festival Sunday 12th August. Here is a action packed weekend or day Flyin event worth considering. Maryborough Aero Club are happy to provide a breakfast for those who are coming along and where possible will provide transport to and from your motels. Karen, events co-ordinator, suggests we could otherwise use the local taxi service that wouldn’t be very expensive as the motels she recommends are literally only a couple of minutes drive down the road. Maryborough Motels that Karen is recommending are McNevins Motel Maryborough 188 John Street Maryborough Email: [email protected] Phone: 41 222 888 and Best Western Kimba Lodge 177 John Street Maryborough Phone: 41 233 999 Both of these are in the same area and are actually straight across the road from each-other. Please let Karen know if you would like to attend the Spit Roast dinner, on the Saturday night as there will be limited seating so she would need a firm number by 1st August. Cost for the Spit Roast dinner is $30.00 per person. Karen is not sure on the cost for the breakfast as yet but will probably be somewhere between $10 and $15 per person Confirm your attendance and dinner bookings for the Wings and wheels event with Karin Middleton, ASAP. 0429 111 260 For those interested in the Harvey Bay Seafood Festival, we will fly over to Harvey Bay airport and book a Maxi Cab to enjoy the food and atmosphere of this yearly festival 1
FlyingVizsla Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 We went - was surprised at the number of people there, given the people we talked to said they hadn't heard of it before we told them. A lot came for the car & bike show, and that was big. Many stalls, clothes, food, pipe band, fund raisers for Angel Flight, RFDS, the Aviation Museum open - all free. Mr FV complained that he couldn't get close to the planes, but with joy flights in & out, so many wandering with kids, dogs, food etc they had to rope it off. We got out when it got quieter. A great day running into old flying friends.
Graham Pukallus Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 Karin and Russel Middleton ( Maryborough Aero Club) did a great job this year, approx 25 planes arrived in picture perfect conditions. The Car, Bike, vintage aircraft displays and Scottish Band all made for an entertaining event. The Saturday night Spit roasts Dinner was a memorable feast with everyone enjoying a great get together. The Local councillors were present who thanked the organisers and Aviation community for a job well done. Next morning we were again treated to a sumptuous breakfast before we departed for the Seafood Festival at Harvey Bay. All in all a great weekend and look forward to next years event. The photos say it all. 2
pmccarthy Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Looks like a fun event. Its confusing because Maryborough Vic does a wings and wheels and I knew the weather wouldn't have been suitable at this time. 1
Blackhawk Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 Yes, it was a great day for the first time event at Maryborough Airport and the word is; it could now be an annual event. Congratulations to all the organisers and helpers for a great trouble free day out. 1
slb Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 Maryborough qld have held wings & wheels before, at least two or three that I remember with the Warbirds. May be a first for the Ford club though?
