planedriver
Looks to me like the lead aircraft in top photo might be a Globe Swift? Quite a distinctive air intake. . 1

apm
Same thing happened in Canberra in the 1970's......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nrn3hHHnbT4 Did they have to taxi all the way from & to the airport, or could they take off from the street? Would be a little hard to get permission these days I reckon. BTW. welcome & congratulation on your 1st post.

Downunder
All those people close to spinning props and nary a fence in sight! A wonder anyone survived! Amazing! From our "modern" society perspective that people didn't need to be saved from themselves back then. They had the common sense to see the risk, stay out of the way and hold their childrens hands tightly. Goes to prove, in some regards, our current multi billion dollar safety industries are a just there for the money.... 3
